Worth visiting!

good place  — 1 year ago

I really like Pittsburgh… I don’t know if I’ll be here in December but I guess I wouldn’t mind if I had to move here there is a lot to do, I know I will miss my home state but it’s Pittsburgh! :)

A review of this place: Pittsburgh: Steel City DOES have character!  — 1 year ago

Pittsburgh is a great city with a nice skyline, decent nightlife, a happening arts scene and good shopping.

Although popularized for its industrial influence, the city’s skyline is surprisingly big, the arts scene is dynamic (The Warhol Museum and the Gallery Crawl being highlights) and the college-age bar scene is large due to University of Pitt, Duquesne and California University of Pennsylvania being based there.

Definitely recommended but hell to drive in due to being built around the mountains. Very picturesque.

Franklin Court

Worth visiting!

A review of this place  — 1 year ago

I used to always get this and the Franklin Institute mixed up as a kid. But there’s a world a difference between the two. I really do like this place but it’s a bit bizarre. The city definitely gave the designers lots of leeway but it really works well (albiet a bit dated, but hey, that’s part of the charm).
Long live the privy.

Reading Terminal Market

Worth visiting!

A review of this place  — 1 year ago

Yummy! Get prepared food like Rick’s cheesesteaks, DiNic’s roastbeef, or any of the other eight million things to choose from. Get local specialties (especially from the Amish) like soft pretzels, apple butter, and scrapple. Or if you’re on a diet, just go to breath in the smells.

Independence Hall

The last time I went to this place  — 1 year ago

While the whole process is much more processy (pick up tickets for timed tour, security check), it was nice to visit a place I had seen since I was about 12. Enjoy the irony of the cradle of liberty being surrounded by chains and security guards. And to think I used to cut through the courtyard to get to work 6 summers ago.
Aside from present circumstances, the openness of the design really seems to exemplify the idealism and hope that this country was built on.

Moore College Of Art

A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

Because Philadelphia is one of the nation’s great cultural centers, the city’s arts resources are diverse and easily accessible. Moore College students live, study and create in this city bursting with inspiration.

Set on the magnificent Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Moore is surrounded by the city’s arts and cultural riches. Within a few minutes walk along the scenic Parkway are the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum, the Free Library of Philadelphia, and our immediate neighbors, the Franklin Institute and the Academy of Natural Sciences.

Soon to be added are a stunning new Calder Museum and a new home for the incomparable Barnes Foundation impressionist collection.

It is the only all girls art schools in the entire USA..the sister school is located in Japan.

The Mütter Museum

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

A medical museum of ancient past. My friends lived around the corner from the Mutter Museum..my favorite attraction is the drawers that contain “objects people have swallowed” “things in formaldehyde” and “brains in order of size small to large”.

Check out some skeletons and surgical objects used in the past..this will make you thank god for modern technology.

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

I lived in Philly for roughly four years attending college. It is a great place to go to school..college town..lots of things to do..but the only drawback is the stores close early and center city becomes a ghost town. Cheap rent..lots of museums..First Fridays for the art galleries..South St..to many things to name but NYC is still my favorite city.

Pretty neat place.  — 1 year ago

I took a tour of the Hershey plant back in 98/99. It was pretty cool. Would love to go back someday.
