Ireland Wanderlust

I studied Literature and Theatre here, and the campus is amazing. The professors are hilarious, and there is so much to do within walking distance. It’s in the heart of Dublin, so you get the full effect. Besides seeing all the traditional landmarks, you get to see and hear about the hidden ones as well.

Live at the foot of the Wicklow mountains. Love them, want my ashes here when I die kind of way. Spelled Glendalough by the way, from the Gaelic Gleann dá Loch (glen of two lakes).

This is a small churchyard so visiting Yeats’ grave will only take a minute. The exception is if you try and make a purchase in the gift shop. It seems as though several tourists were there the same time as us, and the shop is very small (There’s nothing you can’t live without there anyhow). Do NOT forget to lock your car and keep your valuables out of sight, as gypsies/travellers/knackers are oftentimes found living in the car park.

I was on a tour of Northern Ireland and this was a quick photostop after leaving a boat ride on the River Shannon and before we went to Yeats’ grave. I would have liked to explore the Abbey more, but alas, those tours never allow enough time for the things you really want to see.

I went in August 2006 with my family and friends. It was impressive to see something that old so well preserved. Also to see there is the Irish Constitution (from 1918? I think it was)...

Go to the Guinness factory! It has the most awesome view of the whol city at the rooftop bar with your free pint.
