Great pictures! They are great for getting a feel of what it must be like there.

Your response is very helpful. See my question if you can help fill me in on the broadband/wireless capabilities and costs in Warsaw it would be greatly appreciated. Also cell phone providers and if you’re aware that they are available to foreigners with pre-paid gsm.

What’s the glass sculpture place all about? It looks very fun.

Gumtree.pl looks like a very good resource, however I’ll have to pick up some rudimentary Polish to get started as I don’t see an English language version.

Maybe one of the Warsaw locals out there could help us out when we land? Will pay in beer. There is always a big difference when a local who knows the ropes can help.

As far as mobile phone providers goes I’d recommend Heyah as they’re by far the cheapest pay as you go service. No voicemail service but cheap as chips.
The glass was actually ice. You have to wear a thermal jacket to have a drink in the place.
As far as looking for a place goes – its a pretty big job for someone to find a place so I don’t really want to put anyone into the position of doing that. Perhaps try some housing agencies, the university or one of the bigger language schools for suggestions for help as they may already have something in place for you.
If you’re not sure about where to go in Poland you might have a better time in Wroclaw or Krakow as they are far more beautiful and cheerful than Warsaw…
