I would highly recommend staying at Canaan International Hotel:

We were very pleased with this hotel, and it seemed to be fairly close to everything (to the best I can remember). Of course, being an international hotel, it is easy to get a taxi right outside. And the Terra Cotta Warriors are outside the city walls anyways, so you will need a taxi, unless you will be on a tour.
I’m sure there are others, but I can only recommend the one we stayed at while in Xi’an.
I hope this helps,

Thank you for your advice – this looks like a very good option, and well within my price range.

I think this answer is very good, Chanan International Hotel is really a good choice for you, and the Bell tower hotel could be your 2nd choice, these 2 hotel are very near, taxi could be easyly called outside each hotel…and I would like to suggest that if you have only 2-3 days, 1 day is enough for you to visit Terra Cotta Warriors, it is located in the east of Xi’an (outside the city), if you take a taxi, it would take you about 2 hours to get there from hotel, you may spend about 300 RMB ( within this number I think ) in a round trip for a taxi.
I lived in Xi’an for about 9 yrs, I love this city
Wish you a good trip!
BTW, I’m in Singapore now, you can contact with me by MSN: ninjas_cj@msn.com , if you need help during your trip in Xi’an city… I’ll try my best to help you. :)

Thanks for this information, Jesse. I know I will not have enough time to see everything in Xi’an, but I’m very excited to visit, and I hope to come back again!

Believe it or not, I stayed at the Canaan International Hotel as well. It was cheap and well situated to everything. There are a few hotels in the area that have some international buffets that are well worth investigating.
You’ll need a day for the Terracotta Warriors. We were able to fit the Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Big Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter into one day – although we were super tired when we got back to the hotel. I’m sure you’ll have a blast!

Hi, and thanks for your suggestions. I just made my reservation for three fun-filled days and nights at the Canaan International Hotel! I don’t see any way to pack everything I want to do into three days in Xi’an – but I’m going to give it a try.
