In some ways yes, definitely. In other ways, no. :) Like any large city, there’s so much to do and like and dislike, that it’s pretty much impossible to answer that question. But if you can live there and spend the time necessary to explore, do it.

I second that! Make sure to see other areas besides the midtown tourist traps and times square… get down to the east and west villages, meat packing district music & dj joints like APT, gramercy park for a chill vibe, stroll through the central park further north a bit and hit the guggenheim museum for the lastest weirdo exhibit & don’t miss the room with all the kids’ art projects – always wicked smart and sometimes touching… plenty to do and see along with just picking up the different local flavors in various spots. make sure you get off the over-beaten-to-death path and you’ll be fine.
