Dubai

I was a single American female living in Dubai not too long ago. I think there are several factors that’ll go into whether or not you like it.

First of all, finances — everything in Dubai revolves around money. While it’s possible to go out and have a good time without splurging, it’s really, really difficult. I didn’t like Dubai very much solely because I wasn’t rolling in cash and therefore could hardly afford to do so much as take a taxi.

There are some incredible things to love about the place, though. It is a mindboggling melting pot of cultures, from the tourists hailing from every corner of the globe to the immigrant workers from the Indian Subcontinent to the (few and far between) native Emiratis. English is the lingua franca, so you will have no trouble getting around. There is a lot of shopping if you’re into that kind of thing.

But I would definitely advise you to look into the cost of living and whether or not your position would afford you the kind of lifestyle you’d want to be living.

Well, what I do know about foreigners living in Dubai, is that UAE is an amazingly welcoming city, with fascinating people.

I don’t think that money would be too much of a big issue, because from what I’ve heard that the job offers there are pretty great in terms of money. But also of course the cost of living is a bit higher than where I live. All cities are naturally.

The place is like a second home to me (quite literally actually, we have a place there, lol) – and so I might be a bit biased in saying that I’m sure you would just love it there.

Of course, it’s a city lifestyle over there, but the neighboring Emirates are slightly slower paced if you want a break, as well as the neighboring countries, like Oman where I live!! – Oman is the ultimate in peace and calm.

Anyways, back to Dubai. For a single American woman to live there, I truly think it would be the opportunity of a lifetime!!!!

Tip: make sure you know some people there before you make any moves, so they can show you around for real!
