I’m looking to rent. I’m sort of worried because I live in the midwest right now, and making a decent salary, but have no clue what this new job would pay.
I didin’t see a lot of highways, so I was wondering about the commute.
Thanks for your help!

well, if you’re moving all they way out from the midwest i hope you’re making salary instead of hourly. you definitely need to find out what compensation and benefits they’re providing before you even decide to move.
the cost of living is definitely a bit higher out on the coast of california, but most jobs pay a bit better also. so if you’re making $15 an hour, you’re getting roughly 30k a year if you’re fulltime. but after tax, that’s about 20k a year. hopefully you’ll be making at least 40k though.
highway 101 is going to be your main route for getting anywhere i think. if you’re going to north county to work, or taking a trip to san francisco, or pismo beach, LA or santa barbera down south.
highway 1 runs north and south along the coastline. a lot more scenic, but windy and slower. nice drive though _
good luck!
