??? ?? They sound so different, though! I guess it’s like in Canada we say ‘Szechuan beef’ like ‘seh-shwahn.’ And we think fortune cookies are Chinese.

Yes,I think so.In fact I looked up Oxford English-Chinese Dictionary,but I couldn’t find the word,then I looked up my electronic dictionary,its translation was ??and I think it’s almost right,cause many foreign places’ names was translated into Chiese by their pronunciation.And I think it’s almost the same as your habit,just like ???Szechuan.If you try reading the three Chinese characters,you’ll find its pronunciation is similar to the English.
ps:Can you explain the meaning of ‘fortune cookies’ in Chinese?and why you thought foutune cookies are Chinese.
