The stratosphere is at the far north end of the strip. Getting to the other larger more pricey hotels mid and south strip requires a cab or bus at least part of the way. I would recommend that you get a double decker/bus pass for at least one full day while you are there. The bus runs frequently and it is the cheapest way to get around. There are also free shuttles between certain related properties on and off strip – you don’t have to be staying at the property to take advantage of these as well. For example between Barbary Coast and Gold Coast. The breakfast buffet at Mandalay Bay is the best – not cheap but a very excellent value for a top rate buffet. You should put it on your list of “to do”s. Check out tripadvisor.com for any specific things you might want to know. Must see free things = Bellagio Fountain, especially at night, Treasure Island ship show and Mirage volcano. There is plenty to do without spending money on a big show, but if I were going to pick one it would be LOVE as well. Definitely ride to the top of the Stratosphere Tower.
