I spent the best part of a year in Yorkshire so I got to know it pretty well. Leeds is a good city to live and work in and is pretty much in the middle off England so you can get to most places by train/air. The medical museum there is pretty spectacular albeit a bit gruesome in parts (you get to see an old film of an amputation without anaesthetic!). My wife also happened to be driving though York on Guy Forkes night and said that the fire works were incredible (York and Harrogate are where he grew up).

All sound advice, especially re: Leeds being central and convenient to live in.
