A whisky tour through Scotland is worthwhile even if you don’t like whisky. Edinborough Castle is also worth a visit. A really magical place to visit is a village in North Yorkshire near Harrogate – visit it around Spring time and you will be blown away. My best advice is to just get in a car and drive randomly and see where you end up. This is what we did and that is how we discovered Bishop Monkton and the Famous Grouse distillery. If you are a Uni student you may be able to pick up professional work. If you have just finished Year 12 you are probably limited to bar/cafe work .

Have a great time.

Thanks for your advice… Getting in a car and driving around at random really appeals to me, and it’s good to hear that you’ve actually done that and enjoyed it.
Bar/Cafe work will probably be the way to go for me, as I won’t yet have attended Uni, but I don’t mind. I’ve worked in those environments before, and love the ‘people’ aspect.
North Yorkshire in Spring, I’ll have to see if I can orchestrate that. It sounds good.
Thanks again!

I spent the best part of a year in Yorkshire so I got to know it pretty well. Leeds is a good city to live and work in and is pretty much in the middle off England so you can get to most places by train/air. The medical museum there is pretty spectacular albeit a bit gruesome in parts (you get to see an old film of an amputation without anaesthetic!). My wife also happened to be driving though York on Guy Forkes night and said that the fire works were incredible (York and Harrogate are where he grew up).

All sound advice, especially re: Leeds being central and convenient to live in.
I’d probably pass out during the film, though!
Thanks.
