France: Basse Normandie: Mont Saint Michel

A question about this place:
I'm trying to decide where would be the best place to stay. Is it worth it to stay on Mont Saint Michel, at least just for a night? Or is it better to stay in a nearby town, or even a town further away like St Malo and make a day trip? Thanks

No, we aren’t planning to make the trip until later on this year, I just wanted to get some feedback ahead of time. I will post an entry about it after we make the trip. I’m really looking forward to it
