I know your posting is a bit dated but I thought I would try to respond anyway.

I was wondering if you could give me some idea of the prices and quality of Crown Tailors for say a two-piece double breasted suit of nice summer-weight material.

I am looking to have an entire wardrobe tailored of the best quality I can get for a good price.

Do you think that since I would be ordering several garments that I could negotiate a discounted volume price?

Also, do you have any idea how the quality and value of Bangkok tailors compares to other southeast Asian countries, like say Vietnam.

Thanks for any information you could provide.

Luckily for us, I just checked my email so I got an email about a response. Anyways, about Crown Tailors and Bangkok as a whole, it is a negotiable place to some degree, especially bulk buying. I buy my suits in the best quality which came to about $230 US, whereas my other friend preferered a cheaper quality for around $190 or 200. I’m sure if you buy alot, the price would go lower.

About the quality, I would say top-notch. I’ve tried the other tailors, most can’t match the stitching and the long lastingness of my clothes.

I’ve tried tailors in HK and I’d say they are quite a fair bit more expensive then in BKK, never really tried Vietnam though.

How about South Korea? Have you or know of anyone who purchased tailored suits from South Korea? What is the going rate in Seoul and the quality of the suits? I was planning to take a trip next month, so any information would be helpful.

Thanks

Excelsior is reputed to be one of Bangkok’s most popular tailors.
It has clients range from all the expats working here to the hollywood stars like Elijah woods from Lord of the rings. I was taken there by a courier from the Pinnacle Hotel . There were armed guards outside which was scary but the staff were very friendly, and I felt very special the way I was treated. They have a huge range of fabrics and styles. Oh and they do hotel pickups for free. When i returned form travelling around thailand they couriered my clothes to my room on KO San Road – very helpful as it was rush hour .

I bought a tailored suit ( jacket and trousers, 3 shirts a 3 ties) a fitted dress for my sister and a kimono for my mum. That all came to 15 500 baht – roughly £200 which i think is fairly cheap – much less than i would have to pay back in the UK.
