Huh? Pay EXTRA when clicking pics of animals? I never heard of that before in my life. Which countries do that? Do they do that in India?(I suppose that’s where you are from? :))

I suppose countries that do that usually targetting making MONEY out of the tourists you know? And also on countries that have largely depend on their tourism industry, e.g Thailand and Cambodia ..I don’t think Singapore needs to do that ;)

Not sure if you actually do read properly, please show me the link on what you mentioned there on “pay $5 and get pictures with animals with your own camera”. Usually should be taking with the professional photographer, just like in Disney land.

P.S. I take pictures with my OWN camera all the time and so were other tourists at the Night Safari, and we never have to pay for anything :)

Nope, they dont do it over here in India.:).

I misunderstood.

I think they mean to click pics “with animals” or something. Not the regular zoo animal pics.

From this page http://www.zoo.com.sg/visitor/animalphotography.htm

Don’t leave the Singapore Zoo without having your picture taken with our beautiful animals! At $5 per person, you could use your own camera and take shots of your favourite animals.

I see. Those are the various special shows for SPECIAL animals that probably need special care…and it’s based on the donation for the animals, not compulsory to pay. The Orang Utans especially are very special animal to us. The STAR of the zoo is Ah Meng, an orang utan. I think she is about 46 yrs old now, and you have to pay to have breakfast with “her” too :) (You will get to eat too :))

Overall, you don’t have to worry too much about the things in Singapore, they don’t anyhow charge you or try to cheat you. It’s a law abiding place and there is consumer right here you know? ;)

RELAX and just enjoy yourself in Singapore! This place is the safest country in the world! Cheers!!

P.S. The places of interest I mentioned to you earlier are all pretty nearby to one another. Just plan your time wisely and match the right places on the same day. :)

thanks for you help.

One couple of final questions

In the 20th to 23rd timeframe, are there any fireworks shows planned in singapore?

How is hotel claremont (little india). Web reviews suggest its a budget hotel, and in 2005 it was pretty derelict. They say its newly renovated and under new management, any ideas?

I am probably not the best person to ask because we don’t stay in the hotels, we have home here ;P

I honestly don’t know about the hotels well, esp on the smaller ones. The locals, like myself, generally know only the 4 or 5 stars hotels because we normally go for buffet or bars there.

I think you shouldn’t worry about the smaller hotels, because the things and buildings here in Singapore are generally NEW. Even the oldest ones you could get is the 80s style, which is nothing compared to Europe and other asia countries in general. If it says it’s newly renovated and under new management, then it should be ok. What is your concern really? :)

P.S. We only have fireworks happening during Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, and other “special” occasions.

I read some bad reviews dated 2005, so had me worried!

Thanx for your inputs. Too bad not splendid fireworks shows! What about diwali in little india, there are bound to be fireworks then, atleast in India there are!
