A question about this place:
I am going to live in Thessaloniki later this year on a uni exchange and would like any advice/ideas on where to go, what to see etc. If there is any rock climbing near by, watersports etc. Thanks, Can't wait to go!!

The best place for rock climbing is Meteora,almost 230 km from Thessaloniki.Its an international meeting place for climbers!
Thessaloniki,my hometown is a woonderful city with many cafe,bars,reastaurants,clubs,museums,galleries,athletic centers,cinemas etc.
I think you are too lucky to be here!
Must places to visit,upper town and the Byzantine churches,the GALERIUS ARCH,Rotonta,White tower etc.

This is not an answer, but a queation, sorry but I just signed in this page..

I am from Portugal and plan to go to Greece next summer to participate in a research project, please what city should I choose?

I like beaches a lot and can perhaps go to Crete, heraclion, but I am afraid I will be a bit isolated there and I don´t have much money either so a cheap place would also be nice..

Is that too much to ask? :)
