How do I…
How do I add a place?
Fnd the closest “parent” location (usually the country or city). Next, click the green “Add a place within” link on that parent page (near the bottom of the page under “Help improve this place”). Enter the new place name, hit submit and your new place will immediately be added to 43 Places.
Hint: getting as close to the place you’re adding is best. For example, North America > Washington > Seattle > Pike Place Market > The Pink Door.
How do I upload a photo?
A place must be on your list to add a photo. For example, to upload a photo of Spain you must click on the “I Want To Go Here” or “I’ve Been Here” button on the Spain page (or already have Spain on your list of places). Next, click on the “upload a photo of this place” link below the bottom right corner of the photo.
How do I add my hometown and neighorhood to my profile page?
We’ve got a special page that tells you all the ins and outs of adding your hometown.
How do I delete a place from my list?
Go to the place page you want off your list. Click on the “I’ve been here” or “I want to go here” menu and select “Remove”. Buh bye.
How do I change my user name?
We are sorry to say that at present you can’t change your user name. You can however add a first or last name to your account, and these will display instead of the user name on your posts. We rely on the user name to keep your account straight and we haven’t written the code to handle changes in user names. If you think it would be a good idea – you can vote for it on http://ideas.43places.com.
Can I put my list of places on my blog?

Can I put my travel map on my blog?

How do I ask a question about a place?
On the right side of every place page under “Ask a question about…” there is a text box to enter your question. Click on it. Ask a question about that place. Anyone can answer your question. However, people who have checked the box “Would you be willing to provide travel tips to others going here?” will be notified by email with your question. You will receive email when people post answers to your question. Your question will appear on the place page under “Questions about this place” and on your profile page.
How do I report an error about a place page?
Click on the “report a problem with this page” link at the bottom of any place page. You can report misspelling, duplicate places, bad photos, wrong-place-in-hierarchy or other issues. For other site issues or suggestions we invite you to use ideas.43places.com.
How do I submit an idea for 43 Places?
Go to ideas.43places.com and enter your idea in the big text box.
How do I make my Flickr photos show up for a place?
We supplement 43 Places pages with photos of places from Flickr. We only use Flickr photos with a Creative Commons license that allows commercial usage. In addition, these flickr photos are tagged with the appropriate place names. For example, Spain pictures are tagged “Spain” on Flickr and are eligible to show up on the 43 Places Spain page. We only use these photos as a “backfill” to make sure no place is needlessly empty of delightful imagery. However, the only way to guarantee your photos will show up on 43 Places is to upload them directly to the appropriate 43P place page.
About 43 Places
Why is it called 43 Places?
Everything needs a name. We think 43 is the right number of places for a busy person to try and visit. Why not more? It’s too much. Why not less? You can do less, but it is still called 43 Places. Also, we had this site called 43 Things and we thought the name was fitting.
Do I have to pay?
Not today and not in the near future. We think it is important that people who get value out of a community find ways to support that community, but we are committed to finding clever ways to make this happen.
